DIY Flash Bounce

Anyone who uses the ePhotozine websitemay have noticed the McGillicuddy series of technique articles that have been released. One of the items that Damian McGillicuddy uses is his own brand of flash modifiers for bouncing / blocking the flash light. I liked the way he utilised these but £50 for his ‘Portaflex‘ lighting control kit seemed a little steep to me so I started looking for an alternative. I came across this article which shows a very cheap and effective way to make your own flash modifier that looks very well made.

So here’s mine, I hope you’ll agree that it looks pretty decent, don’t think anyone would lay eyes on it and assume it was home made. Now to the proof in the pudding; this is a shot of my GF2, one with the flash bouncing off the roof which is too high to really work, the second shot the camera and flash are in the exact same position the only difference is that I’ve attached the bounce card.
